The Tories wonder if former premier Andrew Furey is earning his keep. They say Furey, who is now a Liberal backbencher, has spent very little time in the House of Assembly.
Critic Barry Petten says he did not show up for a single day in the legislature following the Liberal leadership.
The house closed Thursday with a dozen pieces of legislation still on the order paper. That means they automatically die and would have to be reintroduced in order to become law.
“It’s just respect for the House of Assembly,” says Petten. “You have to get approval from the Speaker to be absent and I’m hearing that he did not get that approval.”
