The annual cleanup of debris on the sides of the Outer Ring Road this past weekend resulted in 2,800 bags of garbage collected.
That’s down from last year when more than 3,700 bags were picked up.
Awareness campaigns have been launched to ensure that people carrying garbage to the dump have their load covered, but the trash persists.
Transportation Minister Elvis Loveless says one bag of garbage collected from the side of the road is too many.
“It’s not just an eyesore,” says Loveless who drives the ORR regularly, “what’s concerning, is the unsafe conditions (sic) that are on the Outer Ring Road, and elsewhere.”
