The case involving a Waterford Hospital patient charged with second-degree murder was called this afternoon in St. John’s.
Thirty-year-old Tom Parsley was initially charged with attempted murder of another patient at the hospital on December 19th of last year.
But the victim, 66-year-old Tom Poole, succumbed to his injuries in hospital two days later, resulting in the charge being upgraded to murder.
Today, court was told the defence is awaiting information related to expert testimony in the case.
Parsley was already facing charges of fraud, as well as assault and property damage involving another incident at the Waterford last fall.
All of the charges will be called together at the next court date on June 7th.
