RCMP in the Stephenville region are investigating to see if drug impaired driving was a factor in a recent hit and run collision.
Bay St. George RCMP were called to a report of a rear-end collision at a stop sign at an intersection on St. George’s Avenue in Stephenville around 10:15 Thursday morning.
The driver of the vehicle responsible got out of his car, spoke with the other driver and then left the scene. There were no injuries.
Police found the uninsured suspect vehicle a short time later, hidden on a residential property. They say the driver, who was found at the property, held a suspended licence and showed signs of drug impairment.
A drug influence evaluation was done, the results of which will determine whether drug impaired driving charges will be laid.
In the meantime, he was ticketed for driving while suspended and driving without insurance.
