The Baie Verte Chamber of Commerce has been given just over $50,000 in provincial funds to support the Baie Verte Regional Task Force Committee.

The region is seeing a mining boom, and along with the excitement that creates, there are also growing pains, including finding skilled workers and preparing the area for an influx of industry, workers and families.

The committee is made up of members of the mining community and the town of Baie Verte and is overseen by the local Chamber of Commerce.

The committee’s goal is to address challenges facing the local mining industry and to ensure that the region has the necessary infrastructure to support mining growth.

$40,000 of the money provided is going to support the task force, while the remaining $10,000 is being used for the Baie Verte region’s 36th annual mining conference now underway.
