A tick found on an animal on the Avalon Peninsula has tested positive for lyme disease.
The Paradise Animal Hospital and Wellness Centre posted the update to social media yesterday.
The vet clinic describes the disease as a severe bacterial infection that can affect both pets and people.
In pets, they say it can cause painful joints, limping, lethargy, and kidney damage in severe cases.
People are being encouraged to contact the clinic for more information, including preventative measures.
