The next few days are a study in contrast on the weather front.
Much of Labrador is under a heat warning, and it’s going to last through the weekend.
Maximum daytime temperatures range from 29 to 33 degrees with minimum temperatures of 16 to 20.
A hot and dry air mass will settle over the region for the next few days according to Environment Canada. Little relief is expected at night with elevated overnight temperatures. The situation will moderate come Tuesday.
Wanda Batten, a meteorologist with Environment Canada in Gander, says it’s a different story in the east and southeast of Newfoundland.
“It’s a bit abnormal, for sure,” says Batten.
Environment Canada says to watch for early signs of heat exhaustion. Those signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.
