A St. John’s man charged with sexual assault last month is now facing a second accuser, with the Crown and police suggesting there may be more to come.
Fifty-seven-year-old William “Billy” Howse was picked up three months ago after a young man said he was assaulted in a centre-city home on March 9th.
At the time, and similar to other recent expanding sex assault cases, the RNC noted this was an active and ongoing investigation while encouraging any other victims to “reach out for help from a trusted resource as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
Howse has been in custody since his arrest in mid-April, and appeared by video this morning from HMP, at which point court was told a second man has since come forward to say he, too, was sexually assaulted by Howse, on the same day and in the same home.
With that, the Crown asked to have both cases joined as one in preparation for potentially others still to come.
Howse so far faces four counts of sexual assault and remains in custody pending his next court appearance set for August 5th.
