A shelter in place advisory for a large portion of the capital city’s west end has been lifted after a major police operation this earlier today.
RNC descended on Salter Place this morning following reports of shots fired in the area.
A shelter in place advisory was issued for residents as police conducted an investigation that eventually extended to Gros Morne Place.
Police removed a number of people from a property on the cul-de-sac and the shelter in place was subsequently lifted.
RNC have not yet provided an update on the nature of the investigation, or whether any arrests have been made or charges laid.

Residents suggest that a shooting in the Salter Place area this morning sparked the massive police response.
Roads were cordoned off and people were asked to shelter in place as police conducted an apparent search in the Salter Place area, which eventually moved toward Gros Morne Place near Columbus Drive.
Police removed a number of people from a property in the area. There is no official word on possible arrests.

A shelter in place issued for a west-end neighbourhood of the capital city has been explanded as police respond to a reported weapons offence in the area of Salter Place.
Residents of Salter Place, Anspach Street, Eastaff Street, Hogan Street, Gros Morne Place, Heatherton Place, Hamlyn Road and Baie Verte Street are being asked to shelter in place.
Numerous officers are working in the area and have roads cordoned off as they conduct their operation. A drone is in the air assisting police in their investigation.
Area residents report hearing what sounded like shots fired late this morning.

The RNC is asking residents of Salter Place, Anspach Street, Eastaff Street and Hogan Street are of St. John’s to shelter in place as police respond to a weapons incident in that area.
Unconfirmed reports indicate shots were fired.
Police, fire and paramedics along with the tactical team are on the scene. RNC have also deployed a drone in the area.
