The St. John’s metro region experienced another month of unusually dry weather in July, receiving only about half of its typical rainfall.
According to Environment Canada meteorologist Ian Hubbard, the area recorded just 54 mm of rain last month, well below the 100 mm normally expected.
This continues a trend that began in the spring. “June was also about 50 per cent of the amount of precipitation, as was May,” said Hubbard. “So it has been a very dry time right across the province—particularly in St. John’s.”
