A service was held this week to honour RCMP members who have passed away.
The ceremony recognized both those who died while in service and those who passed after leaving the force.
Dozens of people attended the event at a memory garden located behind RCMP headquarters in St. John’s.
Helen Escott, chairperson for the garden, says officers are passionate about policing and remembering their own.
“It’s so very important to remember those who serve their country, our veterans who put on their uniform every day and write that blank cheque. It’s so important to pay tribute to these people,” she said.
“And not just the people in uniform. This garden is about the people who are in the back, including clerks, the secretaries, the public servants, civilians, It pays tribute to everyone who serves their country.”
