The Town of Hampden says someone deliberately set a fire at the old highway depot last night and left it unattended.
The act comes during a provincial fire ban and looming increases to fines, up to $50,000, for those who violate it.
The town calls the incident a “serious offence” that puts the community at risk.
RCMP have been contacted and charges will be laid once the investigation is completed.
