Long time cabinet minister John Abbott’s last day in politics is today.

The MHA for St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi announced his intention to step down shortly after his failed bid for the Liberal leadership.

That’s prompted a few changes in cabinet effective today.

Jamie Korab is now the Minister Responsible for NL Housing, while Bernard Davis will add Minister of Families, and Affordability, Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities and Minister Responsible to the Community Sector to his responsibilities as Minister of Education.
