A 52-year-old man is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening violence in the community of Mud Lake, near Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Mud Lake is only accessible by boat or helicopter.
RCMP were contacted around 6:30 Tuesday evening about a man uttering threats, and the local Ground Search and Rescue team helped to bring police officers to the community by boat.
By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled Mud Lake by boat. He was later located and arrested without incident.
According to police the man, who showed signs of impairment, refused a breath sample.
The accused is facing charges of five counts of uttering threats, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and impaired boating.
More charges are possible.
