The Flanders, a ferry that typically serves the Bell Island run, will be out of service for up to two months as it undergoes extensive engine repair work.
The Department of Transportation says the ferry’s engine failed, and must be rebuilt, taking the vessel out of service for about six to eight weeks.
The Beaumont Hamel and the Astron are currently operating on the Bell Island run on a load-and-go basis.
Once the Legionnaire returns to service in the next few days, it will join the Beaumont Hamel on the Tickle on a two-vessel schedule, while the Astron will return to Fogo Island and Change Islands.
