The Globe and Mail has acquired a draft list of 32 major “nation building” projects and Strange Lake, Bay du Nord, and hydro development at Gull Island are among them.
The Globe says among the eight mining projects on the list is Torngat Metals’ Strange Lake rare earths mine on the Quebec side of the border with Labrador West.
The proposed project will involve major infrastructure work in this province to get the product to a proposed port south of Nain and on to a separation plant in Sept-Isles.
Meanwhile, the Gull Island hydro project and the Bay du Nord offshore oil and gas project are also on the list according to the Globe.
The projects on the list are among those being fast-tracked under the Building Canada Act, with preference given to those which are shovel ready.
