The co-chairs of the Education Accord have acknowledged that errors were made in the document.
Dr. Anne Burke and Dr. Karen Goodnough were responding to reports that some of the sources cited in the report do not exist.
They say after the report was published, a small number of references and corresponding citations were found to be inaccurate, and that the errors occurred during the final editing and formatting process. Those mistakes are being corrected, and the report will be updated.
The co-authors say the 110 calls for transformation outlined in the document came from the ideas and solutions put forward by the people of the province, and that they look forward to its implementation.
Minister Bernard Davis spoke with reporters this afternoon.
He doesn’t believe that the errors damage the document’s credibility.
He says the errors only account for a “very small fraction” of the 450 or so citations in the accord.
He says it’s important that the people who noticed the discrepancies pointed them out and changes are being made.
