A great white shark was recently tracked to waters off the Great Northern Peninsula.
Dold, an 11 foot male that normally swims the warm waters of Florida, recently ‘pinged’ off Groals Island off the coast of Conche.
Great whites are known to venture further north occasionally in late summer and early fall, but this particular track may be among the furthest north recorded to-date.
Dold’s northern journey, tracked by shark research group Ocearch, has taken him to the St. Lawrence River, the Gulf of St. Lawrence and now the eastern coast of the Great Northern Peninsula.
