The NDP will be the first in the provincial election campaign to release its party platform later this week.
Leader Jim Dinn provided a few hints this morning, but promised no new tax increases and fiscal responsibility measures.
Dinn says the first step in his plan will be tackling the half-billion-dollar deficit.
“(Tackling the deficit) would be part of the first step here is make sure that we have a budget that focuses on these things without raising the taxes,”
“It comes down to that often we’re told that we’re going to add to it (the deficit). We’re not.”
“We’ve come up with a plan, it may not be flashy, but I can tell you one thing. It’s going to be directed very clearly at the people who need it most.”
