The local music community is rallying around a young artist who has spent countless hours fundraising for various charitable events over the years.

Seventeen-year-old Alex Taylor has been using music as a means to give back to the community for years.

Now, Taylor is facing a heart condition that necessitates a trip to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

A fundraiser is taking place on Saturday at O’Reilly’s Pub on George Street from 2 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and will feature numerous musical acts.

Tom Conway of the band Not Fit is hosting the event.

He says 100 per cent of the people he asked to be part of the fundraiser agreed to do it.

Conway lists numerous fundraisers Taylor has put off over the years.

Conway says Taylor has been a “leader” in organizing so many events to help people, “so it’s our turn now I figure.”
