A quantity of drugs and weapons were seized and a man was arrested and charged as the result of a traffic stop in Stephenville on Tuesday.
A concerned citizen contacted police just before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon to check on the wellbeing of a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle parked in a driveway on Sunset Crescent with the engine still running.
Police say the driver, 43-year-old Scott Alexander, was taken into custody for suspected drug-impaired driving and was transported to hospital for blood samples.
RCMP say Alexander was also found in possession of suspected cocaine and a search of his vehicle resulted in the seizure of a number of drugs, a pellet gun, cash and other items.
- A quantity of suspected cocaine,
- A quantity of suspected MDMA (commonly referred to as Ecstasy),
- A quantity of illicit pills,
- An imitation handgun, later determined to be a pellet gun,
- Two edged weapons,
- Cash
- Other items consisted with possession for the purpose of trafficking
Alexander has been charged with impaired driving, trafficking cocaine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and four counts of breach of a condition of a release order.
RCMP say more charges are possible.
