A 73-year-old man reported missing in an area off the Gander Bay Road has been found safe.

RCMP say Rex Nippard was reported missing Wednesday afternoon and was last seen in the area of Weir’s Pond.

Police are extending thanks to those who participated in the search and rescue effort including the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the provincial air services division, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, the 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander, Gander Bay Fire and Rescue and volunteers with the Bonavista Bay, Exploits, Buchans and the Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue teams.
