Changes to entry points at provincial court in St. John’s will remain in place until at least the end of November.
There are two public entrances with security screening on the 4th floor of Atlantic Place.
But one of those, which leads to courtrooms 7, 8, and 9, has been shut down since the changes took effect on September 22nd.
The court told VOCM News the move is due to a shortage of Sheriff’s Officers, and necessary to ensure there is one in every courtroom.
Lawyers can still enter 7 through the old entrance to #7 just inside the Criminal Division, but media and members of the public must email the court — stjohns@provincial.court.nl.ca — to listen or appear by phone.
