A 61-year-old man suspected of being impaired behind the wheel has been arrested after trying to get away from the RCMP.
A concerned citizen called the RCMP to report a possible drunk driver on the Southern Shore Highway near Witless Bay Wednesday night. An officer tried to pull over a vehicle but the driver hit the gas and fled onto a residential street. He was arrested for flight from police and drunk driving.
The man was released to appear later.
