There are more than a few bleary eyes in the workplace today after a hard-fought battle at Dodger Stadium in L.A. made the history books.
The 18-inning marathon ended in the wee hours this morning with Freddie Freeman of the L.A. Dodgers winning the tie-breaking game with a walk-off home run.
The Dodgers now lead the World Series two games to one with another matchup between the two battle-weary teams tonight.
The excitement and interest in the Blue Jays’ first World Series foray in 32 years has resulted in huge demand for Jay’s gear, and World Series’ hats or jerseys are like hen’s teeth.
Andrew Corbett of Maverick Sports and Collectibles in the capital city’s downtown says interest in World Series apparel is so high, the Jays organization bought back shipments meant for stores across the country.
“There’s been a few issues with getting stuff,” says Corbett, “the Toronto Blue Jays have bought up a lot of stuff that was supposed to be shipped to stores, so that’s been an issue, but we are expecting a lot more stuff that we were hoping would be here Friday or Monday, but hopefully now today…of course living on an island has its own lovely problems as well sometimes.”
Corbett says he was surprised by how many local fans came into the store to buy what gear he had before heading up to Toronto.
He says the sheer number of NLers who were up in Toronto for some of the games may result in a few World Series shirts and hats floating around that were bought in Toronto, but if you’re hoping to buy some locally, it may be a while yet before there is anything available.
