The federal government has allocated $8-million for a new breakwater in Petty Harbour to replace the current structure, which was built about 60 years ago and is showing its age.
Cape Spear MP and parliamentary secretary to the president of Treasury Board, Tom Osborne, chose the wharf in the community for his first announcement since being elected.
Osborne, who sat in the provincial legislature for years, told the Petty Harbour Fishermen’s Co-Op Society that the project is part of the federal government’s commitment to build Canada strong.
