The Canadian Red Cross says funds raised through the We Stand On Guard Once More fundraiser will go towards meeting families where they are with the wildfire recovery.
The benefit concert took place on Monday, and with a matching donation from the province raised $1.2-million.
Bill Lawlor, VP Atlantic Canada with the Red Cross, says they have been focusing on individual circumstances, recognizing that everyone has been impacted differently.
“This is about accompanying, and walking alongside those individuals and those families on what types of support they need.” As an example, Lawlor says they have experience in dealing with insurance companies and contractors, so they can help people in that regard as they begin the rebuilding process.
