Opposition Leader John Hogan says it’s disappointing, but not surprising, that Newfoundland and Labrador was left out of the federal government’s latest “major projects” list given Premier Tony Wakeham’s failure to support the Churchill Falls MOU.
Hogan says he would not expect the Prime Minister to invest resources into a project that the Premier has cast doubt over.
Hogan met with Prime Minister Mark Carney during his visit to St. John’s at which time Carney praised both Churchill Falls and Bay du Nord projects, yet they were omitted from the latest list.
He calls that “an unfortunate consequence of the PCs failure to clearly state their position on the MOU.”
