November is making up for that dry spell in the province in late spring, summer and early fall in a very big way.
It has been rainy and windy in eastern and southern sections for much of this month, and Mother Nature is not through yet as the rain is still coming down after a break on the weekend.
Robert Grove, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says a lot of the storms are rapidly intensifying as they approach the island, and then pulling up some of that tropical moisture.
A lot of rain has fallen in November and it’s only halfway through the month.
“St. John’s has recorded 168 mm so far this month whereas the normal total for the entire month is 132 mm, but the Burin Peninsula (St. Lawrence) has 283 mm whereas the normal total for the entire month is 152 mm,” says Grove.
