The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour is renewing its call for an occupational workforce clinic to help injured workers navigate the system.
The federation is holding its triennial convention in St. John’s this week.
Federation President Jessica McCormick says the clinic would focus on injury and recovery, as well as providing education for both employers and workers.
The clinic was recommended in the Health Accord, but according to McCormick, there has been very little done to get it up and running.
“This is a really key issue for us to push forward is, you know, at the very least we should be taking a look at how we can set up such a clinic in Newfoundland and Labrador to continue the work we’re doing around occupational health and safety,” she told VOCM News.
The conference continues through Wednesday.
