Premier Tony Wakeham says Bay du Nord and the fishery were among the top priorities for him while on a call with the Prime Minister earlier this week.
The first ministers meeting went for just over an hour on Monday ahead of the vote on the federal budget.
Wakeham says on the topic of nation-building projects, he reminded Prime Minister Mark Carney of Bay du Nord, which is in various stages of development.
He says that project that could send a “clear message” to the rest of the world that Canada has the resources that the world needs. He says the province needs support from the federal government on items such as the elimination of the emissions cap, which was mentioned in the budget, and a new investment tax credit.
Wakeham also spoke about the fishery – specifically the Atlantic Fisheries Fund, which he says is set to expire next March with no indication as to whether or not it will continue.)
