The province’s Seniors’ Advocate is urging the provincial government to implement what she calls continuum of care legislation.
Susan Walsh released her annual report on the wellbeing of seniors earlier this week.
Walsh says the legislation would set up what is required in terms of programs and services from community care, to personal and long-term care, and even to palliative care.
She says the legislation would set the framework, and require government to follow it.
Walsh says the province has missed the boat on implementing long-term care legislation, and thinks they should go straight to the continuum of care piece. She states that Alberta has been the frontrunner in this area, and this province should look at that model.
