A 16-year-old Gambo student calls her recent participation in a Youth Parliament event in Ottawa a rewarding experience.
Leah Hunt was among a group of 74 students from across the country who got some first-hand experience with the parliamentary process and even participated in mock debates on three different bills.
Hunt says she’s made friends and gained important insight into the parliamentary process and while she’s not necessarily interested in politics, it has provided her with a greater understanding and respect for the democratic process.
She says she will cast her vote when the time comes and she can see herself helping out in future elections.
