The leader of the federal Opposition spent some time in Newfoundland on the weekend talking with people about affordability and the rising cost of living.
Conservative Leader Pierre Polievre, who is facing a leadership review in January, claims all the federal Liberals have done over the past ten years is double housing costs.
He says taxes make up the biggest single cost in the price of a new home, and he would eliminate taxes on new home construction, bring in incentives for municipalities to reduce fees and other impediments to timely construction.
“I’ve been to Deer Lake, Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville and now St. John’s in the last few days, and you will be able to afford to have a family and afford to hope again under my approach,” says Poilievre.
