The community is rallying behind a prominent volunteer in the city of St. John’s as he begins his recovery from a serious medical issue.

Lex Griffiths, also known as DJ Lex, suffered a stroke earlier this week.

A GoFundMe organized by musician Justin Fancy describes Griffiths as a longstanding volunteer and a “pillar of St. John’s and the surrounding communities.”

They say that just before his stoke, Griffiths was helping to prepare for the annual downtown Santa Claus Parade – something that he has done for more than three decades.

Funds are being raised to help cover his expenses and the unexpected costs that come with a long recovery.
