Education Minister Paul Dinn is planning more meetings with Memorial University officials after an initial sit-down earlier this week.
In January, Auditor General Denise Hanrahan released a report indicating that the university had deferred maintenance liabilities of $481 million as of March of 2024, and that it was “not effectively or efficiently” managing its capital portfolio.
During the election campaign, the PCs pledged to “require Memorial University to be fiscally responsible,” and called for a review of tuition and fees.
Dinn says there will be future discussions with executives at MUN.
“Without getting into details, I know they’re on the road to looking at, and dealing with some of the issues that came out in the Auditor General’s report.”
