Marine Atlantic is navigating what has already been a very unsettled weather week with another storm on the way.
The latest weather system will start moving over the island during the overnight hours bringing heavy snowfall to most regions and winds gusting as high as 100 km/h.
Marine Atlantic says high winds forced the cancellation of some crossings over the weekend and again yesterday, with a backlog of traffic on both sides of the Gulf.
The corporation says it is trying to move traffic through as quickly as possible as the weather allows during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Marine Atlantic says with greater commercial traffic in December, they hope to catch up “fairly quickly” once weather conditions improve and they get a window that allows a return to a regular schedule.
