RCMP in Makkovik are thanking Postville Ground Search and Rescue for their help in rescuing a snowmobiler who ran into trouble when her snowmobile went through the ice.
The woman was riding across Salmon Pond near Postville on Sunday afternoon when the machine ended up in the water.
She managed to get off the machine and get to shore safely. She was located by the ground search and rescue team and returned safely to community.
Her machine was later recovered from the pond.
With snow in the forecast for many areas, RCMP are warning that ice conditions are poor, and lakes and ponds may not be safe for travel.
