A 61-year-old was located and safely apprehended by police after RCMP were called about a man in crisis who was making threats.

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP were called to a remote cabin near Badger on Monday and learned that the man involved was intoxicated and in possession of multiple firearms.

RCMP contained the area and the man was found near the cabin in the surrounding woods, treated as a precaution for his prolonged exposure to the cold, and safely taken into custody under the Mental Health Care and Treatment Act.

Police say a number of firearms were seized from the cabin for safekeeping and to ensure public safety.
