The remnants of the ferocious winds Friday and Saturday are still being felt and seen across the island.
Many areas, including the Avalon Peninsula and the south coast, experienced wind gusts well over 100 kmh, especially Friday night and well into Saturday morning.
Overhead traffic lights were dangling in some areas, utility poles were down and Newfoundland Power had several thousand customers without service for a lengthy period of time.
The Town of Marystown posted a notice on the weekend of a shed (approximately 12′ X 10′) seen floating in the harbour, and asking residents to check their outbuildings to see if one is missing.
