A 20-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after trying to leave a store with merchandise she reportedly didn’t pay for.
RCMP were called to Chubb’s Convenience in St. Georges around 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
An employee reported that the woman left the store, and provided descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle she was in.
The employee tried to get the vehicle’s licence plate number, but was nearly struck as the vehicle sped away in the direction of Stephenville according to police.
RCMP located the woman at a home nearby and took her into custody.
She’s facing charges of assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000.
