A young man already charged in the drug overdose death of a teenager has been arrested again for alleged drug dealing.
Nineteen-year-old Zack Mulrooney has been free on strict conditions since he was charged earlier this year with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.
It’s the first case in the province where someone has been blamed for supplying the drugs that caused a fatal overdose.
He’s accused of knowingly giving 14-year-old Axel Martin a toxic mix of synthetic opioids instead of the Dilaudid pills he was expecting.
Mulrooney was also charged with drug trafficking and possession, which he’s now accused of again — allegedly selling hydromorphone and oxycodone pills disguised as Dilaudid.
He was arrested earlier today and made a brief court appearance, with another bail hearing set for Thursday.
Given the earlier serious charges, and new arrest for more alleged drug dealing, prosecutor Tim O’Brien made it clear that the Crown will be “strongly opposing his release.”
The separate manslaughter case is due back in court next week.
