Memorial University says it is aware of a shortfall of approximately $1 million at MUN’s Signal Hill campus recently revealed by local blogger Matt Barter.
Barter used access to information to get numbers showing that expenditures at the satellite campus were $2.17 million while total revenue was just short of $1.19 million.
The university says it is making “significant improvements” to bridge the gap, “and will continue to do so,” but didn’t provide any more detail.
Earlier this year MUN cut spending by $21 million and 20 positions were made redundant. The Harris Centre and the Office of Public Engagement at the St. John’s campus were also shut down.
The university also announced reduced spending related to travel, materials and supplies.
