Homes in Paradise have been evacuated after people smelled gas inside their homes.
St. John’s Regional Fire Department and town crews were dispatched, and eventually detected fuel in the storm sewer.
A total of 19 homes on Brisbane Court were evacuated.
Crews are working to remediate the site.
Brisbane Court and Starlight Drive are closed to all traffic, however residents can return to their homes if they wish.
A warming room has been set up at the Paradise Double Ice Complex and the town expects to have more information this afternoon.
