Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is highlighting some of the positive efforts and achievements happening in the health care system.
Yesterday, the health authority hosted a Poster Showcase at their facility on Pippy Place.
On display were various placards, each one highlighting accomplishments that have been made to the benefit of patients and staff.
VP of digital health innovation and research, Ron Johnson, calls it a “snapshot” of what’s happening in the system, noting there are many other accomplishments they could be highlighting.
Of the achievements on display, Johnson says they celebrated advancements around robotic-assisted surgery, as well as a pilot program for continuous glucose monitoring for pediatric patients.
With that project, Johnson says they are seeing a 91 per cent improved ease of monitoring blood sugars, a 55 per cent increase in quality of life, and a 64 per cent improvement in people’s ability to participate in daily activities, and better sleep.
