NLC locations across the province were jam-packed yesterday with the return of American booze.
People flocked to the stores to get their hands on products from south of the border which haven’t been available for purchase since February in response to tariff threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The province plans to donate $1 million in net profits to the Community Food Sharing Association.
Products like Jack Daniel’s whiskey and some California wines proved to be hot items according to some patrons who spoke to VOCM News outside the liquor store on Kelsey Drive.

However, some people are torn between buying U.S. products and supporting local charities.
There are various reasons why some say they’ll be buying U.S. products including wanting to support local food banks or because the stock has already been paid for. One shopper told VOCM News he went in and made a point to only purchase Canadian products as he does not support the return of American alcohol.
Other provinces have also started selling off their stock in support of local charities.
American alcohol made its return to Manitoba on Monday, with government expecting to haul in about $1 million. Premier Wab Kinew says they sold $1.9 million on day one alone.
P.E.I. is the latest province to follow suit with U.S. products being made available starting today.
