Thousands of people are without power this morning following intense winds throughout the island overnight.
Wind gusts were just shy of 140 km/h on the Avalon last night, and winds were very strong in other parts of the province as well.
Newfoundland Power’s outage map shows thousands of people are without power this morning from the metro region out to Grand Falls-Windsor. NL Hydro is also reporting outages throughout Central.
Environment Canada meteorologist Erica Price says winds will still be strong to start today, but that won’t last.
She says the winds will die off throughout the day, and for the most part it will just be cloudy in metro with no precipitation.
