The provincial government introduced a new cell phone policy for schools in 2025, and the NLTA is hearing positive things about it from its members.
The policy, implemented last January, bans students in grades K-6 from having them at all, while students in the higher grades can bring them – but are only allowed to use them at recess and lunch.
NLTA president Dale Lambe says it has taken away some of the distractions during instructional time
He states it is allowing students to focus on what they should be focused on – which are their educational outcomes.
