A leading citizen in Conception Bay Centre has passed away at the age of 79.
Harry Hamlyn, a person who held just about every position of influence in Holyrood
except mayor, was probably the most recognizable person in town in his time.
He and his wife ran the landmark Beach Cottage Hotel and Restaurant for several decades.
Hamlyn, who is remembered as a colourful character, was involved in everything including the town’s main summer celebration, the Squid Festival.
Hamlyn will be waking at Dunphy’s Funeral Home in Holyrood on Monday and Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
To recognize his senior hockey accomplishments, the Boyle Trophy will be brought out to the funeral home Tuesday afternoon roughly from 2:30-4:30.
