RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador saw some of the highest number of hires in the province’s history in the last year.
Assistant RCMP Commissioner Pat Cahill says they hired 52 new RCMP officers in 2025, thanks in large part to some changes made in their recruitment and hiring process.
He says in past years, they didn’t do any pre-posting to Newfoundland and Labrador, but this time around the Commissioner gave them the go-ahead to do just that. “We’re happy to say there’s a lot of Newfoundlanders that are coming back to be RCMP officers. That greatly enhanced our recruiting efforts. Not to mention we’re also getting a lot of experienced police officers from all over Canada that are interested in coming back home to Newfoundland.”
